Ch 2 Thinking about Visual Conventions

In my opinion, Wolf's drawing is more representational since he was actually there, and can represent his own culture better than someone outside the culture. Taylor's drawing is more abstract in my opinion, the meeting seems to perfect in his drawing and i'm sure there would be some tension especially when signing a treaty. A huge difference between the pictures is that in Taylor's drawing there seem to be only men showing females weren't taken into consideration when making a decision, but in Wolf's drawing the majority of the crowd is female implying that woman were taken into consideration when making a decision.Taylor made a more ethnocentric approach when drawing the picture, all the natives looked alike and are dressed down, when the whites are dressed more rich and are standing up as if implying domination. In Taylor's version the people seem to have met up in a settle area, where as to Wolf's version they seem to have met up at the natives home ground. Taylors work seem to direct our attention to the middle of the drawing where the signing is going to be done, and in Wolf's work directs my attention towards the natives implying that the visitors are intimidated considering that they are hiding behind some trees.
